elcome to the official web site of the Sycuan / BIA Golden Eagles Hotshots and Flycrews professional Native American firefighters of San Diego County. Our certified Type 1 Interagency Hotshot Crew is based on the Sycuan Indian Reservation in Southern California, West Coast, southwest U.S.A.
I would like to personally welcome you on behalf of my San Diego California inter-agency hotshot crews, the Sycuan Fire Department, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, the National Interagency Fire Center NIFC, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs BIA.

The elite Sycuan-BIA fire crews are held strong by a diverse group of many Native American nations as well as non-natives from the Latino, Filipino, African American and Anglo communities.
TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS
The Golden Eagles Hotshots received its full Region 5 R5 Type 1 Certified Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) status in October 11, 2005.
In June of 2003 the Golden Eagles Hotshots expanded their wings with a newly-formed Golden Eagles Flycrew in partnership with the San Diego City Fire and Rescue Department.
The firefighting wing is an ICS Type I Flycrew stationed at Montgomery Air Field in San Diego. The crew is sponsored and supported by the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation Tribal Government, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
NATIVE AMERICAN FIREFIGHTERS
The Golden Eagles Hotshots are the only BIA-tribal crew in the state of California.
The GOLDEN EAGLES HOTSHOTS IHC and SYCUAN FLYCREWS IHC, and the Sycuan FIre Dept. of San Diego County are proud of their professional Native American Indian firefighters, including members of the Kumeyaay, Karuk, Lakota, Pima, Piaute, Hateuy, Tule River, Shoshone, Cahuilla, Chumash, and Zapoteca Indigenous tribal nations of North America.
First preference in filling employment career opportunities will be awarded to qualified Native American Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). Verification Form BIA-4432 must be submitted with any employment or training application if applicant is claiming Indian Preference.
